Scott Marshall was a tattoo artist best known for winning season four of the Spike TV reality series Ink Master, hosted by Dave Navarro.
Marshall appeared on the competition program beginning in February of 2014, and ending in May of that year. The season began with 17 tattoo artists, and over a series of challenges, contestants were eliminated until Marshall prevailed over fellow artists Walter “Sausage” Frank and Matti Hixson in an all-skill challenge. Marshall won the $100,000 grand prize and was featured in Inked magazine.
He got his start in the tattoo business after he graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago in 1998 and served in tattoo artistry for one year. He had 15 years of experience by the time he entered the competition. He prided himself on being proficient in any tattoo style and incorporating the personality of his client into the tattoo’s design. Marshall also owned his own tattoo shop in Roselle, Illinois, Roselle Tattoo Co.
He died in his sleep due to a heart-related failure on October 25, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. He was 41.
