Sid Ramin was an American orchestrator, arranger, and composer for film, television, and the theater.

With a musical career that encompassed every aspect of show business, Ramin began arranging professionally in the early days of live television for The Milton Berle Show in the 1950's.

He took home the 1961 Academy Award for Best Music: Scoring of a Musical Picture for West Side Story, also winning the Grammy that year for best soundtrack album.

Ramin is also known for composing the iconic theme for The Patty Duke Show, and the theme for Peter Falk's first TV series, The Trials of O'Brien. His other film scores include Too Many Thieves (1966), Stiletto (1969) and a TV movie remake of Miracle on 34th Street (1973).

Sharing a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Design Excellence for All My Children in 1983, he was nominated three additional times.

Ramin died July 1st, 2019, in New York City, New York. He was 100.
