Steve Byrnes was a sports broadcaster for more than 30 years, best known for his NASCAR coverage on Fox Sports.

In 2001, after working for CBS, TNT, TBS and The History Channel over the course of 15 years, Byrnes joined Fox Sports, where he continued to cover NASCAR races and shows. He was a pit reporter for the Sprint Cup Series races from 2001-2014, and was a co-host for the weekday television program NASCAR Race Hub. He also made regular appearances on the show The 10, a television series dedicated to showing highlights from NASCAR.

Byrnes got his start as a weekend sports producer at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C, which he followed up in 1982 with his first on-air job for WCIV-TV in Charleston, South Carolina. He began covering NASCAR in 1985 as host of TNN's Inside Winston Cup Racing. Prior to joining Fox, he hosted Darrell Waltrip's Racers on TNN, and he worked as a play-by-play announcer for the Sprint Cup Series for DirecTV Hot Pass.

Byrnes died April 21, 2015, in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He was 56.
