Sy Tomashoff was an American television production designer

At the outset of World War II, Tomashoff was sent to the Engineering Officer Training Program at Carnegie Tech; serving under George S. Patton, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Star for valor.

Tomashoff ventured into entertainment in the 1950's when he worked for ABC Studios in New York as a scenic artist. He quickly moved up and art directed television shows such as The Edge of Night, The David Susskind Show, and East Side/West Side.

Naturally stepping into production design, Tomashoff continued a career that boasts thousands of episodes of television including: The Bold and the Beautiful, Ryan's Hope, Capitol, and Dark Shadows.

Tomashoff was a seven-time Daytime Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design for a Drama Series. He was nominated ten times throughout his career.
