Tony Carey is a longtime Television Academy member and served two terms as Governor for both the Producers and Production Executives Peer Groups. He will begin his term as Academy Treasurer in January of 2026.

Tony began his television career working for legendary producer Bernie Brillstein while attending USC. He rose through the Brillstein-Grey Entertainment (now Brillstein Entertainment Partners) ranks, overseeing the production of more than one hundred pilots, series, and specials, including such series as The Larry Sanders Show, NewsRadio, Just Shoot Me, Politically Incorrect, and Mr. Show. He then moved on to become Vice President of Production for FX Networks, guiding It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dirt, The Riches and several other series.

Eventually desiring a more hands-on role, Tony returned to sitcoms as the line producer for several studios, networks and stars such as Matthew Broderick, Rob Schneider, Martin Lawrence, Kelsey Grammer, Will Arnot, Chris Mintz-Plasse, Emily Osment, and Ashley Tisdale. In recent years he has tackled other genres with Historical Roasts with Jeff Ross for Netflix, music series and specials with Jojo Siwa, Demi Lovato, Adelle, and garnering a Grammy nomination for producing the acclaimed Justin Bieber: Our World for Amazon. He produced series and commercials with sports legends Shaquille O'Neal and Blake Griffin. He produced streaming and branded content with Kevin Hart, Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner and Juno Temple. He has even hit the live stage in many cities around the country and England, producing Rob Lowe Live: Stories I Only Tell My Friends and a CinemaCon presentation for Paramount with Tom Cruise.

His career has continued to mingle positions of boots on the ground producing with executive oversight for companies like OBB Media, Awesomeness Television and Hennessey Studios.

His passion for continuous learning, innovation and other forward-thinking production methods was highlighted as Tony was among the first to implement remote production during the pandemic, leading to several remote specials and series for Nickelodeon. He produced the only multi-camera motion capture sitcom pilot to date, The Voxels for Nickelodeon and oversaw building a production stage and post-production facility for OBB Media.

Dedicated to giving back, Tony has taught and lectured for many television university and mentor programs. He volunteers producing for several nonprofit organizations, notably the Saban Community Clinic's Annual Gala, helping raise more than $50 million over the years for the organization's health care facilities.

When away from the set, Tony enjoys skydiving, scuba diving and snowboarding.
