Obituary Legacy

Valerie Stevenson was an actress and singer best known for her role on the short-lived CBS musical series Dreams, about a rock band looking for a record deal. She played the character Lisa Copley, a drummer and singer, alongside up-and-coming actors John Stamos and Jami Gertz.

Dreams was canceled in 1984 after only a few episodes, but the show served as a jumping-off point for Stevenson. She landed a recording contract with CBS shortly after the series wrapped, a turn that was highlighted by a video for MTV.

Stevenson had actually started out in music, moving to Nashville at the age of sixteen, where she worked at the Grand Ole Opry and as a background vocalist for Louise Mandrell. Before moving to Los Angeles to work on Dreams, she even had her own show on the Nashville Network (TNN).

She later appeared on The A-Team, Our Family Honor, The Ellen Burstyn Show and Guiding Light.

Stevenson died on January 10, 2015, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was 52.
