William Patrick Olvis was a musical composer whose work scored both movies and numerous television shows.

Most notably, Olvis composed the theme song for the TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, as well as more than 100 episodes of the long-running CBS drama. He also composed the music for 31 episodes of the ABC drama Life Goes On from 1989-93.

His feature film credits included Kill Me AgainRed Rock West and Steal Big Steal Little.

Olvis began his professional career in 1988 composing the score for the telefilm Evil in Clear River. In 1995, 1997, 1998 and 1999 he won awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) for Most Performed Underscore.

Olvis died on May 6, 2014, at his home in Malibu, California. He was 56.
