William Wintersole was an American actor.

A native of Ohio, Wintersole's career spanned 60 years and included stints on stage, radio, film, and television.

He is best known for his role as attorney Mitchell Sherman on CBS’s The Young and the Restless, a role he played for 25 years.

His other television work includes appearances on Rawhide, Peyton Place, The Fugitive, The Wild Wild West, Star Trek, Mod Squad, I Dream of Jeannie, The F.B.I., Mannix, Mission: Impossible, Bonanza, The Waltons, Columbo, Kojak, Little House on the Prairie, General Hospital, and Trapper John, M.D.

Wintersole appeared in feature films alongside Rock Hudson, Patty Duke, Lee Grant, Dean Martin, Rod Steiger, George C. Scott, Michael Douglas, and Eli Wallach.

Wintersole died November 5, 2019, in Los Angeles, California. He was 88.
