Me and My Emmy: Julianne Nicholson

The Paradise and Hacks star reflects on her career milestones.

Emmy Tally: Two

How She Got the Gold: For supporting actress in 2021 for the HBO limited series Mare of Easttown, and for guest actress in 2025 for the HBO Max comedy Hacks.

Now the Noms: Nicholson was also nominated as supporting actress in 2025 for her role in Hulu’s Paradise.

Feels Unreal: "My Emmys live on a large windowsill. One of them wears a necklace with a big ‘J’ on it. I don’t notice them very often, but when I think about having two of them, I have to pinch myself every time."

Cheer Section: "The first time [I won] was during Covid when it was a novelty to be gathered together. It felt like family sitting with Kate [Winslet] and Evan [Peters] at the same table and all of us cheering for the others. Winning the second Emmy was as exciting and equally surreal. I brought my dad, and it was very special to share the evening with him. We were seated in the front row, so he felt pressure to look interested and applaud loudly in case the camera passed over him."

Industry Reunion: "I love seeing everyone at the Emmy Awards — from people I admire to friends I have worked with in the past. After three decades in the business, it feels like Old Home Week."
