Emmys in China: Broadcast Deal Signed

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has entered into a multi-year licensing deal with the China Movie Channel (CCTV-6) beginning with the broadcast of the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in China. The announcement was made by Todd Leavitt, President and COO of the Television Academy and Jia Qi, Vice President of CCTV-6 at the 10th Shanghai Film Festival held in Shanghai. The deal was negotiated by Grace Ip, exclusive Television Academy consultant for The People’s Republic of China.

The 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 19th on the ABC Television Network in the U.S.

The China Movie Channel (CCTV-6) is a nationally distributed television service which enjoys the largest viewership of its kind in China. The channel was officially launched on January 1, 1996 as the 6th channel under the CCTV umbrella. The service has grown to reach more than 720 million viewers and is constantly rated as one of the top channels in China. A Pay TV Channel under CCTV-6, China Home Cinema has been test broadcasting since September 2003.
