Social Buzz: Top TV Shows, February 8-14, 2015

The Slap surprises.

If you weren’t one of the 7.2MM people watching NBA All-Star Weekend, you could have been reacquainting with the undead or enjoying the strip-mall shenanigans of sleazy but lovable lawyer Saul Goodman in his new show. This week we look at four premieres and a finale, with The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, Last Week Tonight, The Slap, and Constantine.

We wanted to know how social fans reacted to:

  • Rick and team scrambling to find safety in The Walking Dead, but finding something else entirely.

  • Saul trying to prove his client’s innocence in the series premiere of Better Call Saul.

  • Daily Show graduate John Oliver tackling the topic of big pharma in Last Week Tonight.

  • A family’s reaction when a stranger hits their misbehaving child in the miniseries premiere of The Slap.

  • John investigating a strange and mysterious attack at a hospital in Constantine.

The Social Totals

Zombies still prove to be big news, as the mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead secures the vast majority of engagement among the shows analyzed with over 3.3MM engagements total on both social networks.

Active Audiences

Although the undead undoubtedly got fingers clicking, we see a much different story when we look at the social media data once audiences are normalized. At the end of the day, it was the The Slap’s social audience that proved to hit the hardest in terms of tuning into the show’s content with almost 4 times the amount of engagements per 1K users as the next highest show, Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul.
