LA Area Noms for Academy Reps Vice Chair and Governor Honored

North Hollywood, CA – The Los Angeles Area Emmy nominations, which were announced on July 7, included accolades for two members of the Television Academy’s leadership body.

• Mitch Waldow, who serves on the Executive Committee as Los Angeles Area Vice Chair, is nominated for Best News Special for the Fox 11 production Reagan: Actor to Icon. Sharing the nomination with Waldow for their work on this project are fellow producers Bob Tarlau, Mark Sudock and host John Beard.

Two other Fox 11 specials are also nominated in the category. Singled out for Border Crossings are producers Christina Gonzalez and Bob Tarlau and host Phil Shuman. For Underwater Warriors the nominees are producer Bob Tarlau and host John Beard.

• Los Angeles Area Governor Suzan Jorgensen-Torgerson garnered two nominations, one for Best Feature Segment, as producer of KCAL 9’s 9 on the Town segment “Super Spy,” and the other for Outstanding Non-News Writer.

Also vying for the Feature Segment award are producer Russell Kodani, editor Garry Ashton and camera operator Victor Smith for the KCAL 9 segment “Monica Lopez—Special Olympics”; producer Joshua Chaiton and editor Kevin Benson for the 9 on the Town segment “Pilot Getaways”; producer Bobby Matthews, producer Garry Ashton and camera operator Victor Smith for the KCAL 9 segment “The Assomull Family: The Tie That Binds,” part of the 2004 Special Olympics; and another 2004 Special Olympics segment, “The Hartman Family: The Strength Within.”

Nominated along with Jorgensen-Torgerson for Outstanding Non-News Writer is Fox 11’s Bob Tarlau.
