Allan Wyatt, Jr., a stunt performer known for his work with the television series The Dukes of Hazzard, died February 3, 2012. He was 59.
In addition to serving as stunt double for Hazzard star John Schneider, Wyatt performed numerous driving stunts in the show’s signature vehicle, a Dodge Charger known as the General Lee. During his seven years with the show, he drove the car more than any other stunt driver.
In the show’s second season, Wyatt was behind the wheel in a famous scene in which the General Lee jumped 230 feet over a moving train.
The jump is reported to hold the world record for the longest jump done in an automobile.
