Annette Charles, an atress best known for the role of Charlene “Cha Cha” DiGregorio in the 1978 movie Grease, died August 3, 2011, at her Los Angeles home. She was 63.
According to news reports, the cause was cancer.
In Grease, Charles character was the girlfriend of Leo, the leader of the Scorpions (Dennis Stewart), and wins a nationally televised school dance with Danny (John Travolta) after Sandy (Olivia-Newton John) is dragged away.
Earlier in her career, the Los Angeles native appeared in several television series, including The High Chaparral, The Flying Nun, Gunsmoke, Mod Squad, Bonanza, Barnaby Jones, Man from Atlantis, The Incredible Hulk and The Bionic Woman.
Her final television appearance was a 1987 episode of was on Magnum, P.I.
In later years, Charles graduated from the New York University School of Social Work, and taught at California State University, Northridge.
