Carl Young, a tornado researcher and camera operator who contributed extreme-weather videos to the Discovery program Storm Chasers and other TV productions, died along with two colleagues, Tim Samaras and Paul Samaras, on May 31, 2013, while covering a powerful tornado near El Reno, Oklahoma. He was 28.
According to news reports, the three men were the first casualties among scientific researchers while chasing tornadoes, a citation attributed to the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
