Clay Green Cambern, an assistant editor for the NBC drama Grimm, died of cardiac arrest on November 8, 2011 in Burbank, California. He was 56.
Cambern was an assistant editor on shows including The Sopranos, Lost, Detroit 1-8-7 and the 2009 version of Melrose Place and movies including Dave (1993), The Tuskegee Airmen (1995) and The Mask of Zorro (1998). Recently, he edited the television shows Women’s Murder Club, Cold Case, Numb3rs and Third Watch.
He and his father, TV and film editor Donn Cambern, worked together on Major League II (1994).
Cambern graduated from the Oakwood School in North Hollywood, Calif. and the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music.
Survivors include life partner Kevin Wilkerson, father Donn, mother Patricia, sister Sharon, brother Wade, cousin Joyce and nephew Kai’mina Auao.
A celebration of his life was held on Nov. 15, 2011 at the First Christian Church of North Hollywood. His family asks that donations be made to BCR programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities (818-843-4907).
