Denise Borino-Quinn, who unexpectedly won a role as a mafia wife on The Sopranos after she attended an open casting call, died October 27, 2010, in Morristown, New Jersey. She was 46.

According to news reports, the cause was liver cancer.

On The Sopranos, the long-running HBO drama about a New Jersey crime family, Borino-Quinn played Ginny Sacrimoni, wife of Johnny “Sack” Sacrimoni, played by Vincent Curatola.

She landed the role in 2000 under unusual circumstances. At the time, according to reports, she was a legal secretary and part-time manicurist. She had no acting experience and was living with her parents. She went to the audition on the day of her grandmother’s wake, primarily to support a friend, but wound up being cast herself.

Boriono-Quinn, a native of Roseland, New Jersey, lived in nearby Bordentown.

When not acting, Borino-Quinn worked at a New Brunswick law firm.

Her husband, Luke Quinn Jr., died in March.

Survivors include two brothers.
