Fern Persons, Actress and SAG Board Member

Persons balanced an active performing career with decades of service to her guild.

Fern Persons, an actress and former member of the national board of the Screen Actors Guild, died July 22, 2012, in Denver, Colorado. She would have been 102 on July 27.

Persons appeared in several feature films, including Class, Risky Business, Hoosiers, Field of Dreams and Prelude to a Kiss.

Her television credits included Early Edition and ER.

An active member of SAG, she served on the guild’s national board from 1976-1998, and devoted more than 40 years to its Chicago Branch Council and other capacities.

She joined AFTRA in 1937, and received the AFTRA Founders Award in 2006 and the SAG Howard Keel Award in 2009.
