Former Dynasty Star Christopher Cazenove Passes

Played role of Ben Carrington, John Forsythe's scheming brother.

Christopher Cazenove, an actor best known for the 1980s drama Dynasty, died in London on April 7, 2010. Cazenove, who was 64, had contracted septicemia, a bacterial infection of the blood, in February.

On Dynasty, Cazenove played Ben Carrington, the scheming brother of John Forsythe’s Blake Carrington. He also appeared in the BBC drama Judge John Deed.

Cazenove was born December 17, 1945, in Winchester, England.

He known for playing aristocratic roles in many television productions, and first garnered public attention in the 1970s on the BBC series The Duchess of Duke Street.

Other series included an adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s novel Kane And Abel and the World War II drama Jenny’s War.

His success on Dynasty led to a role in the 1990 comedy Three Men and a Little Lady, the sequel to Three Men and a Baby.

He also played Heath Ledger’s father in the 2001 film A Knight’s Tale.

Czaenove returned to British television in 2001 with Judge John Deed. He also worked extensively on the stage and in radio.

He was married to actress Angharad Rees, known for the British series Poldark, for more than 20 years. They had two sons, Linford and Rhys, and divorced in 1999. His older son, Linford, had earned a master’s degree at Cambridge University when he died in a 1999 automobile accident at age 25.
