Joel Goldsmith, a composer who received three Primetime Emmy nominations for his work, died April 29, 2012, in Hidden Hills, California. He was 54.
According to news reports the cause was cancer.
Goldsmith, the son of Oscar winning composer Jerry Goldsmith, forged a distinguished career of his own with dozens of credits, many of them in the science fiction genre.
In all, Goldsmith received three Emmy nominations — two for Stargate: Atlantis and one for Stargate SG.
