Michael Clarke Duncan, an actor whose height and muscular build belied a gentle side that was featured in many of his roles — perhaps most notably his Oscar-nominated performance as a death row inmate in 1999 movie The Green Mile — died September 3, 2012, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 54.
According to news reports, the cause was complications from a heart attack.
Duncan who came to acting after having worked as a ditch digger and bodyguard, also appeared in such films as Armageddon, Planet of the Apes and Talledega Nights. He also lent his voice to such animated features as Kung Fu Panda, Delgo, Brother Bear and Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.
His television credits included The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Married...with Children, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Wayans Bros., Living Single, Arli$$,George Lopez, CSI: NY, Two and a Half Men, The Apprentice, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and, most recently, a costarring role on the Fox series The Finder.
He also did voice work on numerous animated series, from Loonatics Unleashed to Family Guy.
