E! Entertainment, the global leader for everything red carpet, and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences are teaming up for two innovative initiatives for the 61st Primetime Emmy® Awards taking place September 20. The new initiatives, which offer fans a robust, interactive Emmy experience, expand E!’s ongoing relationship with the Academy.
On September 18, E! will unveil a groundbreaking widget on Eonline and the Television Academy's new site for television fans, Emmys.com, that harnesses and integrates both Facebook and Twitter into a single interface. The widget offers a unique live chat environment that displays both Facebook updates and “tweets” from users, celebrities and nominees leading up to and during the Emmy® red carpet and telecast. For the first time, fans can interact with each other, share red carpet reactions, pose questions and get live celebrity and nominee statuses from both platforms in one place. The high-tech application will enhance the Emmy viewing experience from the red carpet right through the broadcast.
E! is also joining forces with the Academy to showcase Emmy celebrity fashion in a way that’s never been done before at any major award show. The network is unveiling its new red carpet signature feature “Glam Cam 360” as part of E!’s “Live from the Red Carpet: The 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards©” programming event on September 20. The state-of-the-art camera captures video of celebrity wardrobes from top to bottom and front to back in a complete seamless 360 degree motion. These exclusive celebrity fashion shots will appear at Eonline and Emmys.com.
E!’s television Emmy coverage includes “Live from the Red Carpet: The 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards©” hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic, along with fashion expert Jay Manuel, airing Sunday, September 20 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. et/pt, as well as “Countdown to the Red Carpet: The 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards©” airing from 4:00-6:00 p.m. et/pt.
