Richard Threlkeld, an award-winning broadcast journalist for CBS News and ABC News, died January 13, 2012 (age 74) in Amagansett, New York. He was 74.
According to news reports, the cause was a car crash.
Threlkeld was a writer, reporter, anchor and bureau chief for CBS for more than 25 years. He moved to ABC News in 1982, and returned to CBS in 1989.
During that time, Threlkeld covered wars, politics, social issues and more.
For his work, he won multiple Emmy and Overseas Press Club awards and an Alfred I. du Pont-Columbia University Award.
