Rosemary Rice, an actress who played the oldest daughter, Katrin, on the 1950s television series Mama, died, August 14, 2012, at her home in Stamford, Connecticut. She was 87.
According to news reports, the cause was a heart attack.
Mama, which aired from 1949-1957, was based on the book Mama's Bank Account, by Kathryn Forbes. The book, about a family of Norwegian immigrants in the early 20th century, also inspired a play, radio series and a movie, I Remember Mama, released in 1948.
Rice also worked extensively in radio. Her other television credits included the daytime drama The Edge of Night.
