Actor Roberts Blossom died July 8, 2011, at a nursing home in Santa Monica, California. He was 87.
According to news reports, Blossom died of natural causes.
A longtime film and television presence, Blossom was perhaps best known for his performance as neighbor "old man Marley" in the film Home Alone and for his work on the daytime drama Another World.
In addition to his work as an actor, Blossom was a published poet and three-time Obie Award winner for his work in off-Broadway productions in the 1950s, '60s and '70s.
His other feature credits included The Hospital, Slaughterhouse Five, The Great Gatsby, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Escape From Alcatraz, Resurrection and Doc Hollywood.
Blossom also appeared on such television series as Moonlighting, Northern Exposure and In the Heat of the Night.
He is survived by a son and a daughter.
