Vito Trotta

Briefly describe what you do.

I specialize in helping actors transform their appearances, so they embody the characters they portray. Through hair and makeup, I bring their vision to life, allowing them to step into their roles with confidence and authenticity.

What motivated you to become a governor?

After serving on the Peer Group Executive Committee under three governors, I decided to lead and serve my peer group and instill positive change.

What are some of your proudest accomplishments or credits?

I have worked on amazing TV shows and films with incredibly talented actors, but what I'm most proud of is that in 2020, amid a global pandemic, I co-founded a mentorship program for hairstylists trying to break into the TV and film industry! It was very successful and one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life/career.

How do you stay informed about emerging trends and developments within your field, and how has that helped support your peer group?

I love attending classes and events about hair and beauty! It’s so exciting to follow both experienced and emerging stylists to discover the latest trends. I’m always eager to learn and be inspired by the amazing creativity in the hair and beauty community!

What do you hope to accomplish for your peer group as a governor?

I'm excited to share that, in my three years as governor, I've made some fantastic improvements to Emmy submission rules. As I approach my final year, I'm dedicated to supporting my co-governor's success and looking for enthusiastic candidates to take over my role. Together, we’re ensuring a bright future for our community.

What do you like most about being a governor at the Television Academy?

As a passionately creative individual in a vibrant industry, my experience as governor has been invaluable. It has taught me the importance of the business side. I’m genuinely grateful for this opportunity to educate, grow and learn!

Anything you would like to add?

It's been such a fun ride! Serving two terms for an organization I respect and believe in has been an honor.

Angela Moos

Briefly describe what you do.

I get to bring joy and happiness to actors and talent by designing and implementing makeup looks for their characters that help tell a story, alongside the director or department head of various projects.

What motivated you to become a governor?

I listened to the members who felt they weren't being heard and wanted to address their concerns to ensure an even playing field for all. Additionally, I recognized the need to support and uplift members following several calamities in our entertainment industry, including pandemics, strikes and fire disasters. I wanted to make events fun and creative for them, encouraging them to engage, socialize and bring some gratification and cheer to their lives.

What are some of your proudest accomplishments or credits?

The accomplishment and credit I am most proud of is creating Dancing with the Stars! I started working on the show in 2006, the third season and soon became the key makeup artist for the next 15 years. I helped design makeup looks for dances such as the rumba, salsa, tango, jive, and waltz. It starts with the style of the dance, the song, the costume (taking photos of costumes on Sunday before the show), the color tones of bejeweled Swarovski crystals on the costumes, the lighting, watching rehearsals to see how light plays on them and finally, hairstyles that may be up or down.

All of this plays an integral part in the well-researched makeup looks that I created collages for every dance routine, from what's trending to fashion shows, magazines and the internet. All of this depicted the celebrity and professional dancers sharing their dance story to the live audience and projecting the makeup for this medium that is rivaling with lighting, costumes and dance rigor! It has paved the way for excellence for several Emmy nominations and wins throughout the years!

How do you stay informed about emerging trends and developments within your field, and how has that helped support your peer group?

I stay informed by attending makeup classes, attending makeup shows yearly at the convention centers throughout Los Angeles, researching current trends, viewing fashion shows, subscribing to fashion magazines, volunteering my makeup services and watching current or past/period television shows that might invoke makeup techniques, such as award shows, celebrities, models, performers and singers!

What do you hope to accomplish for your peer group as a governor?

As my peer group’s Makeup governor, I plan to accomplish the following: strengthen the verbiage in certain categories and specifically increase membership in my peer group.

What do you like most about being a governor at the Television Academy?

What I like most about being a governor at the Television Academy is attending the all-peer group meetings in person, meeting new governors and learning about their roles and backgrounds. I find it interesting to hear their stories and engage with them about the television industry, as they are the "best of the best!" And the intellect in the room is noticeably electric to me!

Anything you would like to add?

I appreciate being progressive and adapting to the times, and I recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in our diverse city, particularly within the entertainment industry.

I would love to engage with the younger generation and get them to dream big about being in the industry and how to begin the process that will help them get to their dream careers, whether it be creative, technology, producing, art direction, crafting or encompassing all areas of this amazing business!
