Television Academy Referral Program Terms and Conditions

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences ("Television Academy," "Academy," "we," or "us") offers the Television Academy Referral Program (the "Program"), which runs from October 26, 2026 through 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on January 31, 2027 (the "Campaign Period"). By participating in the Program, you agree to these Referral Program Terms and Conditions ("Terms") and acknowledge the Television Academy Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, which are incorporated by reference. These Terms control if they conflict with any Program marketing materials.

Eligibility

A "Referrer" means a current Television Academy member who is classified as a National Active, National Associate, LA Active and LA Associate and who refers an individual to apply for membership according to these Terms. A "Referee" means an individual who is not a current Television Academy member, has not been a member within the twelve (12) months before applying, and is referred by a Referrer.

This program is available online to Referrers. Faculty, Student, and National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) members, and Television Academy employees, are not eligible to participate as Referrers. The Television Academy reserves the right to change eligibility to participate in the Program at any time, in its sole discretion, and to verify the eligibility of any participant.

To earn a referral reward, a Referrer must comply with these Terms, and the Referrer's membership must be current both when the Referee is approved and when the reward is applied.

Referral Reward

For each Referee whose membership application is approved, the Referrer may choose one reward: (a) a $50 discount off the Referrer's next membership dues payment, or (b) priority access to an All-Academy event. For Your Consideration (FYC) and peer group events are not included in the reward offering.

A Referrer may earn a maximum of three (3) rewards during the Campaign Period, in any combination of membership dues discount(s) and priority access to All-Academy events. The Referrer must select a reward within thirty (30) days after the Television Academy notifies the Referrer that a reward has been earned, or that reward will be forfeited. If priority access to an All-Academy event is chosen as a reward, the Referrer may make a one-time change to the event selected.

The Referee must pay the non-refundable $50 application fee and submit an application for Television Academy membership. All applications are subject to the Academy's standard review processes and timelines.

To count toward the Program, a Referee's application must be submitted through the Referrer's personalized referral link during the Campaign Period. Upon approval of the Referee's application, a $50 discount off the Referee's first-year membership dues will automatically be applied. The Referee discount does not apply to the application fee.

Rewards and discounts have no cash value; are not transferable, refundable, or redeemable for cash; and may not be combined with other offers, discounts, or promotions unless the Television Academy states otherwise. If a Referee's membership is cancelled or refunded, the Television Academy may revoke the related reward.

Program Restrictions

Referrers who are on a group pay designation, Board of Governors (BOG) members, Executive Committee (EXECOM) members, and Lifetime members may choose only the All-Academy event priority access reward; the $50 dues discount does not apply. An "eligible referral" is a referral where the Referee applies for Television Academy membership online through the personalized link provided to the Referrer by the Television Academy during the Campaign Period and is then approved for membership. Referrals made without the personalized link will not be tracked and are not eligible for a reward.

If the Referrer's membership expires before the Referee is approved, the Referrer will not be eligible to receive any reward. If the Referrer's membership expires after a reward has been earned but before it is applied, the Referrer will have the Academy's standard 30-day dues extension period in which to renew. If membership dues are not paid within this period, all earned rewards will be forfeited.

If two or more eligible members refer the same individual, the reward will be credited only to the Referrer whose personalized link the Referee used to apply.

To protect applicant privacy, the Television Academy will not disclose to Referrers the status of, or the reasons for any decision on, a referred individual's application.

Referring via Email, Social Media & Other Third-Party Websites

  • This program is intended for Referrers to refer colleagues and known acquaintances to apply for membership utilizing the personalized referral link and sharing tools we provide.

  • You may share your referral link by personal email or message to people you know, or post it on your own personal social media accounts. When doing so, you must:

    • comply with the applicable platform's terms of use and all applicable laws, including anti-spam laws;

    • clearly and conspicuously disclose, in each message or post that you may receive a reward if the recipient is approved for membership (for example, "I may earn a reward if you join"); and

    • not send bulk or unsolicited messages, use paid advertising or search keywords, make false or misleading statements about the Television Academy or membership, or present yourself as speaking on behalf of the Television Academy.

  • By sharing your link on a third-party site, you do so at your own risk and are subject to that site's privacy, security, and other policies, which the Television Academy does not endorse or control.

  • You acknowledge that people you refer will be able to tell that you are a Television Academy member.

Program Violations - Rewards Forfeiture, Termination

  • Any violation of these Terms or abuse of the Program, including self-referrals, fictitious accounts, or other fraudulent or deceptive conduct, may result in forfeiture or revocation of referral rewards (including rewards already applied) and disqualification from the Program.

  • The Television Academy may limit, cancel, or revoke referral rewards if it determines, in its sole discretion, that you have violated these Terms.

Changes to the Program or these Referral Program Terms

  • The Television Academy may suspend, cancel, terminate, or modify the Program, these Terms, or any offer made through the Program at any time in its sole discretion. Changes will be posted at [TelevisionAcademy.com/terms-conditions-referral-program] and will not affect rewards already earned, except in cases of violation of these Terms.

  • Your continued participation in the Program after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of those changes.
