The Television Academy, based in the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, California, is a nonprofit organization devoted to celebrating and empowering storytellers to push the boundaries of what Television can be. The only major organization fully representing the television and broadband screen entertainment industry, it is made up of over 26,000 members, representing 31 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors and various other artisans, technicians and executives.

The Television Academy recognizes excellence among its peers with the Emmy award, culminating in the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast each fall. The Television Academy also produces several other awards shows and a variety of activities and events for its members throughout the year. These events are featured across the Academy's digital platforms and in its award-winning emmy magazine.

Established in 1959 as the charitable arm of the Television Academy, the Television Academy Foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of television while educating and inspiring those who will shape its future. Assistant Video Editor, Temporary

This is a part-time, temporary position requiring fewer than 30 hours per week. The hourly pay rate is $38.00. The role reports directly to the Director of Video Production and is an onsite position.

Summary of Position

The Television Academy is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Video Editor. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our constantly growing library of video media. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing backup, organization, and logging of raw and finished assets, as well as organizing and maintaining a backlog of assets that spans over a decade. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Media Asset Organization: Develop and implement strategies for efficient and secure storage, organization, and retrieval of video media assets. 

  • Backup and Archiving: Establish and maintain robust backup systems to ensure the safety and preservation of all media files, both raw and finished. 

  • Asset Logging and Metadata: Maintain a comprehensive logging system to catalog media assets, including relevant metadata such as titles, descriptions, tags, and timestamps. 

  • Media Retrieval and Distribution: Enable seamless retrieval and distribution of media assets, both internally and externally, ensuring appropriate access controls are in place. 

  • Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure the integrity and usability of media files, addressing any issues or discrepancies promptly. 

  • Workflow Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve media management processes to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and reduce duplication of efforts. 

  • Video uploading to Emmys.com. 

  • Video and photo editing as needed. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience. 

  • Proven experience in assistant editing, preferably in a professional production or creative environment. 

  • Proficient in organizing and categorizing media assets with attention to detail and accuracy. 

  • Familiarity with digital video formats, codecs, and industry-standard post-production workflows. 

  • Familiarity with Brightcove or other video player software. 

  • Proficient in Adobe Premier and Photoshop and Davinci Resolve. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. 

  • Solid understanding of data backup and archiving best practices. 

  • Familiarity with copyright regulations and intellectual property rights related to media assets. 

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
