John Williams is an Emmy Award-winning composer for television series and films. His work in television can be heard on Gilligan's Island, Great Performances, "Heidi," and "Jane Eyre."
Williams is best known for creating the iconic scores for numerous beloved films. He is a frequent collaborator of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Williams's work can be heard in "Jaws," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and every single "Star Wars" feature film.
Williams has 54 Academy Award nominations , which makes him the second-most nominated person in the history of the Academy Awards. He is also the oldest Academy Award nominee after he received a nomination for his work on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny at the age of 91.
In addition to his film career, Williams was the principal conductor for the Boston Pops from 1980-1993. He has also composed themes for the 1984, 1988, 1996 and 2002 Olympic Games.
