Harrison Ford to Receive 2026 SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award

The Emmy-nominated actor and activist is the 61st recipient of the guild’s highest honor.

Over a six-decade career defined by indelible film and television roles and a legacy as one of cinema’s most enduring leading men, Harrison Ford has garnered an array of accolades for his professional achievements, including the AFI Life Achievement Award, Golden Globes Cecil B. DeMille Award, Critics Choice Career Achievement Award and more.

On March 1, Ford will mark another prestigious milestone, when he is honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards ceremony. Ford will be the 61st recipient of the award in acknowledgment of his work as an actor and a humanitarian.

In a statement announcing the honor, which is given annually to an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession,” SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin said, “Harrison Ford is a singular presence in American life; an actor whose iconic characters have shaped world culture. His career has been endlessly exciting, always returning to his love of acting. We are honored to celebrate a legend whose impact on our craft is indelible.”

Ford began appearing in movies in the 1960s. A breakthrough role in the acclaimed ensemble American Graffiti set him on a path to such unforgettable motion pictures as Star Wars and its four sequels and Raiders of the Lost Ark and its four sequels. His dozens of other credits include Blade Runner, Witness (for which he received a Best Actor Academy Award nomination), The Mosquito Coast, Working Girl, Presumed Innocent, Regarding Henry, Patriot Games, The Fugitive, Clear and Present Danger, Sabrina, Air Force One, What Lies Beneath, 42, The Age of Adaline, Blade Runner 2049, The Call of the Wild and Captain America: Brave New World.

On television, Ford appeared in episodes of numerous series in the 1960s and early 1970s, including Gunsmoke, Ironside, The Virginian, The F.B.I., Love, American Style and Kung Fu. He returned to television with significant impact over the past decade with roles in the Paramount+ western 1923 and the comedy-drama Shrinking, now in its third season on Apple TV. For his performance as a therapist learning to live with Parkinson’s disease, Ford earned his first Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, as well as noms for a Golden Globe Award, Critics’ Choice Award and his first Actor nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

In addition to his work as an actor, Ford is a devoted advocate for environmental and humanitarian causes. He served as vice-chair of Conservation International and lent his voice to global conservation efforts through EarthShare, Restore Hetch Hetchy and the climate-focused documentary series Years of Living Dangerously, for which he traveled to Indonesia to investigate deforestation and other practices that have made Indonesia a significant greenhouse gas emitter. He delivered a 2019 address at the United Nations Climate Action Summit, and has earned multiple species named in his honor, as well as the inaugural E.O. Wilson Legacy Award for Transformative Conservation Leadership in 2025.

Beyond his environmental work, Ford is also a vocal advocate for human rights. He testified before the U.S. Senate in support of the Dalai Lama and has voiced his political views during several presidential election cycles. In addition, he supports global archaeological preservation as a General Trustee of the Archaeological Institute of America.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award,” Ford said upon receiving news of the accolade. “To be acknowledged by my fellow actors means a great deal to me. I’ve spent most of my life on film sets, working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I’ve always felt grateful to be part of this community.”

The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, hosted by actress and producer Kristen Bell, will stream live on Netflix on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.
