MTV's Diane Robina will assume a new role as president of Comcast-Sony Networks. |
Philadelphia, PA – Leading cable provider Comcast annouced today that veteran cable programming executive Diane L. Robina has been named president of Comcast-Sony Networks effective July 1, 2005. This joint venture, announced earlier this year in association with the MGM acquistition, will create new cable networks based on content from Sony's library.
Robina will be based in Philadelphia. She will report to Jeff Shell, President of Comcast Programming, and to the joint venture's board. A former MTV Networks executive, Robina is charged with leading Camcast-Sony in planning new network genres, overseeing launch and all operations.
Shell described Robina as "one of the most innovative people in cable" with a "proven ability to grow new networks." Steve Mosko, president, Sony Pictures Television, said that Robina's wealth of experience and long-standing industry relationships make her the right choice for this role. "Diane loves television," Mosko explains, "and I love her passion for the business."
During her tenure at At MTV Networks, Robina reportedly played a key role in launching TV Land, HA! (now known as Comedy Central), Nick UK, Nick Germany, the relaunch of TNN and more. Currently serving as Executive Vice President of Acquisitions Strategies for MTV Networks, she got her start at MTV Networks as Manager of Acquisitions for Nick-At-Nite.
The University of Delaware alum also sits on the Board of Directors for New York Women in Film and Television.
