DON MISCHER NAMED EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF THE 61ST PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARDS TELECAST

Airing Sunday, Sept. 20 on CBS Television

Multiple Emmy Award-winning producer Don Mischer has been named Executive Producer of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards, to be broadcast Sunday, Sept. 20 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network, it was announced today by Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, and John Shaffner, Chairman and CEO, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  



“From the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics to the recent Presidential Inauguration at the Lincoln Memorial to Super Bowl halftime shows, Don Mischer is one of the great big event producers of our time,” Tassler said.  

“He knows how to bring excitement and pageantry to live events, and how to produce memorable moments on television," she continued. "He’s proposed some exciting new ideas for this year’s Emmy Awards and we look forward to working with him again to make it an event to remember.”



“The Television Academy is thrilled to have Don returning,” said Shaffner. “He has spent a lot of time thinking about the Emmy telecast, blending forward and creative thinking with a deep knowledge of and respect for the integrity of the Emmy, which tells us that he is the right person to produce this broadcast."



Mischer is an internationally recognized producer of television and live events who has been honored with 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, a record nine Directors Guild of America Awards for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, two NAACP Image Awards and a Peabody Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.  

Some of his producer/director credits include “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial,” “Fashion Rocks,” “XIX Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony,” “Motown 25” and several “The Tony Awards,” “The People’s Choice Awards,” “The Kennedy Center Honors” and Super Bowl halftime shows, among others.  



This will mark his ninth time as executive producer of the Primetime Emmy Awards, his most recent being the 56th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards is being produced by Don Mischer Productions.



Nominations Ceremony Coming July 16




Nominations for the 61st Primetime Emmys will be announced July 16 at 5:40 a.m. (PT) from the Academy's Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
