On behalf of our nearly 20,000 members who live and work in California, the Television Academy is proud to endorse AB 2403, legislation that would establish a dedicated tax credit to help retain commercial production in our state.
Commercials are a cornerstone of television and a quintessential part of the viewing experience, but they also support thousands of skilled craftspeople, technicians, production companies, and local businesses. Our California members have been clear: they want the opportunity to build sustainable careers close to home and continue contributing to the communities where they live. For many, commercial production serves as either a primary source of employment or an important source of additional work, supporting families and sustaining the broader ecosystem of businesses that depend on a strong entertainment industry.
While production today is more mobile than ever, California remains a central pillar of the nation's entertainment workforce and infrastructure. AB 2403 is a thoughtful step toward helping California retain the jobs, talent, and economic activity that have long been part of the creative economy. This effort is not about taking work from other communities; it is about preserving opportunities for the workers and businesses that have helped make California a central hub of entertainment production.
We urge the Legislature to pass AB 2403 and look forward to advocating for its passage in Sacramento throughout this legislative session.
