EMMY TALLY: Two
HOW SHE GOT THE GOLD: As Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, in 1997 and 1999, for NBC’s 3rd Rock From the Sun.
NOW THE NOMS: Johnston was nominated for the same role in 1998.
PUPPY LOVE: “I get a lot of inspiration from my dogs. They really understand how effective a funny face is in getting what you want.”
GOLDEN DÉCOR: “My Emmys have had a pretty adventurous life, living all over NYC and Connecticut for many years before making it to our current homestead in L.A. They never go out of style. They’ve also never complained about constantly moving, which is pretty rare for a member of an actress’s entourage.”
JOB JOY: “Working in this business can be tough. But if you’re lucky enough to work with people who are generous and fun, and who want it to be a collaboration, there is no greater joy. I had that on Mom, which is why I turned to [Mom and Leanne executive producer] Nick Bakay on the last day of filming and told him, ‘I have to work with you again someday.’ But the best part of [my work on Netflix’s Leanne] is Leanne [Morgan]. She is the real deal, and I think you can tell whenever we’re in a scene together that we are madly in love — as friends, as actresses and, in a very real way, sisters. It’s pretty much the greatest job I’ve ever had.”
